The Soochow University Cancer Institute (SUCI), officially established in February 2023, is a university-level research entity under Soochow University. The Institute is led by Prof. Qimin Zhan, a member (Academician) of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and the Dean of the Suzhou Medical College of Soochow University. The development of the Institute primarily focuses on addressing major national needs in cancer prevention and treatment and advancing the frontiers of international cancer research. Through the recruitment and cultivation of high-level talent and the integration of basic and clinical research resources in oncology from Suzhou Medical College of Soochow University and its affiliated hospitals, SUCI fully leverages the strengths in cancer research. At the same time, the development of SUCI will further promote Suzhou Medical College of Soochow University as a key platform and important base for training high-level talent in cancer research in China, which will contribute to enhancing national capabilities in the diagnosis and treatment of malignant tumors, as well as advancing the construction of Healthy China.

In line with the development of the Cancer Research Institute, we are now publicly recruiting high-level teaching and research personnel both domestically and internationally.

II. Application Requirements

  1. Applicants should have good      ideological, political qualities, ethical standards, academic integrity,      and professional ethics.

  2. Applicants must hold a PhD degree      from a well-known university, either domestic or international, with at      least two years of research experience (including postdoctoral work).

  3. Applicants should demonstrate a      high level of academic achievement and development potential, with the      capability to grow into nationally recognized young talents.

  4. Applicants must be able to      independently conduct research, mentor graduate students and junior      researchers, and take on teaching responsibilities related to biology or      medicine.

III. Position Benefits

Soochow University offers a competitive salary package, research startup funding, laboratory space, office facilities, and additional support. The major benefits are as follows:

1. Distinguished Professor (Leading Talent)

  • Professional Title: Professor

  • Salary: Starting from ¥880,000 per year before tax, plus      performance-based bonuses, with no upper limit.

  • Housing Subsidy: ¥2,000,000–¥3,000,000 (excluding national and local matching      subsidies).

  • Research Startup Funding: Negotiated on a case-by-case basis      for disciplines in experimental science, engineering, and medicine.

2. Distinguished Professor (Top Talent)

  • Professional Title: Professor

  • Salary: Starting from ¥570,000 per year before tax, plus      performance-based bonuses, with no upper limit.

  • Housing Subsidy: ¥1,500,000–¥2,000,000 (excluding national and local matching      subsidies).

  • Research Startup Funding: ¥3,000,000 (Experimental Sciences, Engineering, Medicine).

3. Distinguished Professor (Elite Talent)

  • Professional Title: Professor

  • Salary: Starting from ¥450,000 per year before tax, plus      performance-based bonuses, with no upper limit.

  • Housing Subsidy: ¥800,000–¥1,500,000 (excluding national and local matching      subsidies).

  • Research Startup Funding: ¥1,000,000–¥2,000,000 (Experimental Sciences, Engineering,      Medicine).

4. Young Distinguished Professor

  • Professional Title: Associate Professor

  • Salary: Starting from ¥380,000 per year before tax, plus      performance-based bonuses, with no upper limit.

  • Housing Subsidy: ¥500,000–¥800,000 (excluding national and local government      matching subsidies).

  • Research Startup Funding: ¥500,000–¥1,000,000 (Experimental Sciences, Engineering,      Medicine).

5. Excellent Young Scholar

  • Professional Title: Lecturer/Associate Professor

  • Salary: Starting from ¥310,000 per year before tax, plus      performance-based bonuses, with no upper limit.

  • Housing Subsidy: ¥200,000 for Lecturer; ¥400,000 for Associate Professor.

  • Research Startup Funding: ¥400,000–¥500,000 (Experimental Sciences, Engineering,      Medicine).

IV. Additional Support

1. Talent Projects and Individual Subsidies

  • Priority      for Recommendation forInnovation and Entrepreneurship Program of      Jiangsu Province:      Teams selected for this plan will receive total      funding from the provincial government ranging from ¥3,000,000 to      ¥8,000,000 over three years; selected doctoral candidates will receive      ¥150,000 in innovation and entrepreneurship funding over two years.

  • Priority for Recommendation for      “Jiangsu Distinguished Professorship”: Those      selected will receive an annual post allowance of ¥120,000 (tax-free) for      three years, along with research funding of ¥1,000,000 (or ¥2,000,000 for      particularly outstanding candidates). Overseas applicants who      have held assistant professor or higher positions may apply directly via a      recommendation system.

  • Priority for Recommendation for      Innovation and Entrepreneurship Leading Talent Program in Suzhou: This includes support for applying for various local science      and technology talent programs such as the Talent      Subsidy, the Talent      Residence Program, and the Outstanding Talent Contribution Award of Suzhou City.

2. Other Support Services

  • Full-time recruited talents will      be provided with career positions and relevant benefits, including social      insurance contributions as per provincial and municipal regulations.      Foreign nationals will be provided with appropriate benefits in line with      relevant local and institutional policies.

  • The university provides ample      office and laboratory space for distinguished professors and above,      supports the establishment of innovative research teams, and offers      preferential recruitment for young faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and      full-time research staff. The number of postdoctoral positions is not      restricted. Graduate student recruitment will receive policy support, and      transitional talent housing will be provided.
